IPL PHOTOREJUVENATION
Service Overview
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photorejuvenation is a cutting-edge method designed to refresh and enhance skin's overall appearance, giving one a more even skin tone and a radiant complexion. This treatment typically requires a series of 2 to 4 sessions, spaced out at 3 to 4-week intervals. The best part is that IPL is associated with minimal risks, minimal discomfort, and no downtime. It's a safe and effective option for various body areas, including the face, neck, chest, and hands.
The IPL photorejuvenation system is versatile and can effectively address a wide range of skin conditions, such as:
1. Photoaging and Sun-Related Skin Damage:
It helps combat the effects of sun exposure and aging on your skin.
2. Freckles, Brown Age Spots, Skin Blotchiness, and Irregular Pigmentation:
IPL can help fade these pigment-related concerns.
3. Broken Capillaries and Telangiectasias:
Those small, dilated superficial blood vessels can be treated effectively.
4. Redness and Flushing:
If you experience redness on your face, neck, or chest, IPL can help reduce these symptoms.
5. Rosacea:
Many individuals with rosacea see improvements in facial redness, skin sensitivity, and the frequency and duration of rosacea flare-ups with IPL treatments.
6. Melasma:
IPL can also be effective in addressing this pigmentation concern.
Additionally, IPL can complement other cosmetic procedures such as laser skin resurfacing, chemical peeling, microdermabrasion, Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin, Jeuveau, facial fillers, and various non-ablative treatments.
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- If you've been taking isotretinoin (Accutane), discontinue it for one month before your IPL treatment.
- One week before the treatment, avoid Oracea, Doxycycline, or topical retinoids (Renova, Retin-A, Atralin, Refissa, Ziana, Tazorac, Differin).
- If you have a tan, please reschedule your appointment.
- On the treatment day, avoid applying makeup or lotions unless you're prepared to remove them at the office.
- If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex virus), take your prescribed medication (e.g., Valtrex, Famvir, Zovirax) as directed.
- Inform your provider of any new medications, allergies to medications, or beauty marks you don't want treated.
- Immediately communicate any excessive heat sensations during the treatment.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
- After the IPL treatment, you may experience redness, slight swelling, and a sensation similar to a sunburn for a few hours.
- Pigmented areas may temporarily darken before eventually sloughing off within 7 to 10 days.
- To achieve the best results and minimize complications:
- Apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer at least twice daily or as needed for dry skin.
- When outdoors, use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, especially between 10 AM and 3 PM.
- Use a gentle soapless cleanser like CeraVe or Cetaphil until healing is complete, avoiding scrubbing or washcloths.
- Resist the urge to pick, peel, or scratch the treated area to prevent permanent scarring.
- Wait at least 14 days after IPL before pursuing other treatments in the same area.
- You can typically resume using topical retinoids 7 days after the IPL treatment.
- Ice packs and cool compresses can help reduce post-treatment discomfort and swelling.
- To minimize post-peel swelling, consider sleeping on your back with your head elevated on a few pillows for the first few nights after treatment.
